My mom was here for almost the whole month of April, then about 10 more days in May after a quick jaunt to Australia. We had a great time, and did our best to show my mom all the sights of Singapore, including sampling as much of the varied food here (Chinese, Thai, Indian, Malaysian & Singaporean) that a vegetarian can enjoy (my mom ate a lot of tofu...). We (my mom and I, along with a friend and her mom) took a 4 day trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia to celebrate her retirement: despite it being the hottest month of the year (100+, dusty, sweaty), we happily visited temples, an elementary school and the markets to explore what is certainly a fascinating and beautiful country with a sobering history.
